The brain of a child will develop better when music lessons are part of its education. That is a proven fact. A child is never too young to be introduced to music. Six month old babies recognize their caregiver’s or mother’s voice. They have some phonetics stored within the auditory cortex already. Babies respond to these voices, phonetic sounds, and music because there is recognition.
Music takes down walls. Music crosses boundaries. Music is not relevant to age. Unborn babies hear the world around them. Even while they are still in the womb they start storing sounds to remember. Exposure to the waves of music before birth has a positive effect on the baby. There is reason to believe that these babies, after they are born, recognize the music they were introduced to while they were in the womb. Studies conclude that their heart rate goes up. Sometimes they even move somewhat to the beat of that music that is obviously not new to them.
Learning more about music and learning how to play instruments at a young age promotes neuron and brain cell connection. The better neurons and brain cells actually connect, the more the brain develops and intelligence goes up. Brain cell development occurs with exposure to activities and elements that enrich the individual. The connection made because of music instruction is also beneficial when the child is expected to progress in abstract reasoning, spatial intelligence, and mathematics.
